Failed to access IIS metabase.

When trying to access your website running on IIS you get the error message: "Failed to access IIS metabase.".

This happens because you probably first installed the ASP framework and then the IIS server. You need to make a repair install on the framework to set the right permissions.

  1. Start / Run
  2. Type "cmd" and press OK.
  3. cd to the framework folder, in my case C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727
  4. Type the command "aspnet_regiis.exe -i" and press enter.
  5. Now try accessing your website again.
